Royal Hotel was built in 1917 by A.W. Hall and family. While building the hotel, they lived in the home directly behind the hotel. This is one of the oldest homes in Lava. The building hosted many types of businesses including a mercantile store, boarding house, laundromat, bar and restaurants. It is one of the oldest buildings in town. Since 1984 it has been the home to our homemade hand tossed pizza and a turn of the century Bed & Breakfast. Lava Hot Springs has attracted visitors since Native American people came for the healing in this area of truce. Pioneers stopped on their travels on the Oregon Trail. Four blocks from the hotel the state operates 4 large outdoor hot pools year round, and two blocks from the hotel an Olympic sized swimming pool in the summer months. Families enjoy inner-tubing down the river in town. Lava has a challenging nine-hole golf course. Nearby hills have trails for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter. Pebble Creek Ski Resort is only 25 minutes away. We are in the center of excellent year round fishing and hunting. Lava Hot Springs is located in southeastern Idaho, near national parks and recreation areas convenient to major highways.
